Our Work

The Aquatic Animal Alliance is a force to be reckoned with in the animal advocacy space. Our ever growing number of organizations committed to improving the lives of aquatic animals, allows us to have a global united voice when we engage with industry, policymakers and international stakeholders. We execute campaigns together in a global context, addressing the primary welfare issues posed by the global aquaculture and fisheries industries. We are also composed of incredible organizations making impactful and meaningful progress in their countries and regions, ensuring that change for aquatic animals advances both globally in international settings, and locally in farms and regulations. The coalition is actively engaged in sending feedback urging certifiers, corporations, government officials and policy makers, international bodies and academia, to include aquatic animal welfare as a priority intervention. You can view the  list of Aquatic Life Institute’s policy engagements and certifier engagements, many of which involve contributions from the AAA.

2025 Reports

The Aquatic Animal Alliance (AAA) End of Year Report, along with the Half-Year Report, is a snapshot of our coalition’s activities and progress in 2025. The reports highlight how +180 organizations across more than 75 countries are joining forces to protect aquatic animals.

Our reports showcase campaigns, new members, and shared achievements through detailed case studies, while also exploring the tools we are building to strengthen advocacy. In creating the Alliance, we had a clear goal of bringing together organizations working to improve the lives of aquatic animals through a coordinated, responsive, and inclusive approach.

Globally, AAA members are launching and supporting campaigns, raising public awareness, carrying out innovative research, and influencing industry and government practices. Momentum for aquatic animal welfare is growing rapidly around the world, and we are inspired to see so many groups stepping up in their own countries and regions to address the immense challenges facing animals in aquaculture and fisheries.

With every new voice and action, this movement becomes stronger, more visible, and more impactful.
