Míriam Martínez Macipe Animal Welfare Observatory

Míriam Martínez Macipe is a veterinarian with an MSc in animal welfare from the University of Edinburgh and a PhD in animal welfare from the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona.

She has been in the animal protection movement for more than 20 years, both volunteering and working for NGOs. She has experience conducting rescues, writing reports, engaging with institutions, driving corporate change, coordinating coalitions and leading campaigns for different animal causes.

Míriam is now the Director of Animal Welfare at the Animal Welfare Observatory, where she focuses on reducing the suffering of farmed animals, including chickens, hens, fish, and shrimp. She is driven by the goal of transforming our food system into one that is truly sustainable and ethical.
