School of Aquatic Allies Member Guidelines

By using the School of Aquatic Allies platform, you agree to comply with the following guidelines and terms of use, and acknowledge that you have read and understood the information herein.

This resource hub was created to support AAA members on their campaigns and initiatives for aquatic animals. We count on AAA members to help us build this platform by keeping it updated and sharing resources that you have created as well, so that they are accessible to other organizations around the world. It is also a space for you to connect with other organizations around the world and foster collaboration to increase our impact as a movement for aquatic animals.

Guidelines to use the School of Aquatic Allies (SAA) resource hub

  1. The School of Aquatic Allies (SAA) will only provide access for active Aquatic Animal Alliance members. We request a limit of two team member signups per organization in addition to your organization’s profile

  2. You can upload any documents, videos, images, social media resources, articles, and any other resource that you consider to be useful for other organizations working to improve the lives of aquatic animals, via the resource upload form. Resources added through the form will be updated on the SAA weekly. If ALI staff determine a resource is not adequate due to the nature or quality of its content, we will inform you and it will not be uploaded to the SAA.

  3. Please do not share any materials you find in the SAA externally without the permission from the organization that produced them.

  4. Please be aware that if you share materials labeled as confidential within this restricted membership, complete confidentiality cannot be guaranteed.

  5. Be respectful when reaching out to other AAA members through the platform, as we want to foster a collaborative and courteous environment in the alliance.

  6. If you use any information from the SAA materials to create your own, please ensure you properly reference the original sources and acknowledge the organization or individual who created them. Our goal is to foster a supportive environment where we recognize and give credit to the work of others.

While our staff will make every effort to ensure that the resources shared on this platform are of high quality, we cannot guarantee the accuracy, completeness, or currency of the content. The materials uploaded by members are provided as-is and are not necessarily endorsed by the AAA or by Aquatic Life Institute. The views and perspectives expressed in these resources are those of the authors and do not reflect the official stance of our organization. Users are encouraged to critically evaluate the information and seek additional sources if needed. By using this platform, you acknowledge that any reliance on the resources provided is at your own risk.

Zero Tolerance for Harassment and Discrimination

The Aquatic Animal Alliance (AAA) believes our community should be safe for everyone.  We are committed to providing all individuals involved with our AAA community, including, but not limited to, members and staff involved in Alliance supported activities, a professional, safe and welcoming environment free from discrimination and harassment regardless of gender, gender identity, sexual orientation, disability, race, ethnicity, age, and religion. All individuals are responsible for conducting themselves in a professional and inclusive manner, and appropriate disciplinary action will be taken in situations where an individual's behavior violates this expectation. Based on the seriousness of the offense, disciplinary action may include verbal or written reprimand, and the individual’s temporary ban from an alliance activity, and/or permanent expulsion from membership in AAA.

Reporting Guidelines

  1. If you are subject to behavior that violates our harassment and discrimination policy, notice that someone else is being subject to this behavior, or have other compliance concerns regarding this policy, notify the AAA Director as soon as possible by emailing catalina@ali.fish. An individual making a complaint may be asked to put the complaint in writing to help us assess the case.

  2. AAA encourages the prompt reporting of complaints or concerns so immediate action can be taken, if appropriate.

  3. Retaliation against an individual for reporting harassment or discrimination or for participating in an investigation of a claim of harassment or discrimination is a serious violation, and is strictly prohibited. Acts of retaliation should be reported immediately and will be promptly addressed.

The Aquatic Animal Alliance reserves the right to deny or expel member organizations from the coalition if they engage in harassment or discrimination in any way to other alliance members or external stakeholders.
